It's Real but Boosted

About seven years ago, I had a vision for a new kind of tabletop game—one that combined all the things I love: dramatic storytelling, fun gameplay mechanics, and beautiful miniatures, all made easy and accessible to everyone. This new kind of game would have no books of rules to memorize, it wouldn’t take hours to set up and play, but still deliver the sophistication, strategy, and narrative depth of games that I enjoy like Cthulhu Wars, Warhammer 40,000 and Gloomhaven to name a few. My 9-year-old son and I immediately began working on a paper prototype on evenings and weekends.

When I shared the idea with my good friend Jeremy Bennett and his son, we started developing the first versions of the smartphone companion app. Technology at the time was limited, NFC and Augmented Reality were not, yet, available on every phone. We persevered, continuously improving the game and the app iteratively. With time, smartphones caught up with our vision.

Years later, we are ready to share our creation, the first game built on the Boosted Reality Platform. It has taken a lot of support and help from friends and family, and the serendipity of finding some top-notch artists, musicians, and modelers to get here. We, finally, have Rift Zone: Contact, the first chapter in the Rift Zone Odyssey. A game can be set up in 5 minutes and played in 30. The app keeps gameplay moving quickly and provides the sort of heads-up display that I dreamed of way back then.

Gaming is something all of us have loved since we were kids, and we are proud to introduce this new way of playing with you. We look forward to sharing many more games and exciting ideas with all of you...  Excelsior!
